🔴 SOLD ‘Mama Alto. Jazz Cabaret and Diva’. Oil on linen 90×70 box frame in Tasmanian oak. I was privileged to paint Mama in my studio in between her substantial national and international gigs. Find her on Insta #mamaalto and Facebook. This is one of the stunning outfits she wears on stage. Adorning her hair either side are her often used large flowers.

I painted this quick (half hour or so) portrait using pens and watercolour from the zoomed live image of author Bernadine Evaristo. At another location she was also being painted by a previous finalist in the SkyArts Portrait Artist of the Year program. Because of the COVID 19 pandemic 2020 this program could not be held, so SkyArts set up a Portrait Artist of the Week with well known people as the models. I was amongst thousands of artists around the world who also painted Bernadine. So interesting to see many other artist’s interpretations.
